Phu Quoc is a peaceful island in the south of Viet Nam and features beautiful white sand beaches.The client owns a modest beach property with interesting building restrictions, including rolling hills and a narrow site plan. Many interesting questions had to be answered to develop the master plan for the area: How do we provide as many water views as possible from both the public spaces and the bungalows? How do we maximize number of bungalows without blocking the view of the scenery? How do we combine a traditional experience, using local materials, with modern high-end ambiance?

The final bungalow design was a hybrid approach: The first floor bungalows have their own deck and swimming pool and become an integrated part of the landscape. The second and the third floor have entrances at other levels of the landscape with traditional forms and materials. Spaces and pathways are manipulated to crop and expand the view.
