Pyle Road
Design Development, 2010
This addition to a university professor’s home in Bethesda, Maryland provides a secondary entrance to the existing building and connects it to a new wing featuring an office and a rehearsal room for the professor’s band. The rehearsal room is buffered from the neighbors, and opens up to the newly created courtyard where the professor can entertain guests and play music. On the upper level, the courtyard merges with the existing sunroom and blurs the boundary between the indoors and the outdoors. The addition features a gently sloped roof that allows ample sunlight to reach both the courtyard and the rehearsal room through clerestories.
